The two earned the right to be this year’s All-Star coaches after steering their respective teams to the Finals of the season-opening Philippine Cup. Alapag, co-MVP of Asi Taulava in the 2004 All-Star in Cebu, is to see action in his 10th All-Star Game – the most by any active PBA star. Former PBA greats Alvin Patrimonio, Ato Agustin, Jojo Lastimosa, Hector Calma, Olsen Racela, Kenneth Duremdes, Bong Ravena, Pido Jarencio, Ronnie Magsanoc and Allan Caidic also make their appearances as they play in the Legends Game on May 11. Patrimonio, Agustin, Lastimosa, Calma and Racela team up with Danny Ildefonso, Rudy Hatfield, Danny Seigle, Joseph Yeo, Mike Cortez, Sol Mercado and Willie Miller for the "Greats" playing against the "Stalwarts" featuring Duremdes, Ravena, Jarencio, Magsanoc, Caidic, Asi Taulava, Ranidel de Ocampo, Sean Anthony, PJ Simon, Jayjay Helterbrand, Mark Cardona and Cyrus Baguio. The 2012 All-Star festivities are set May 10-13 with Laoag City Mayor Michael V. Farinas and Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos serving as chief hosts. This marks the second time the province is hosting the PBA All-Star weekend after staging the 2005 edition of the event. (SB)
